The Time Has Come!

Well, here we are! I leave in two days for Toronto... scary!! I can't believe how fast everything has happened. I leave to Winnipeg tomorrow morning and then sunday at 9:00, my flight leaves for the big T.O!

I moved home from clear lake yesterday afternoon. I drove the 1 1/2 hour drive and boy was I tired (not that it was a long drive, short sleep the night before). But things needed to be done so I sat down and started checking e-mails, working on my essay about EDUCATION IN CANADIAN SCHOOL SYSTEMS, etc... Also, I had to inform everyone about voting!! Because voting has officially started! So everyone don't forget to vote vote vote!

I tried to go to bed early last night but it was nearly impossible. So much to think about, so little time! So I set my alarm for 7:45 this morning in order to make it to my pedicure and gel appointment on time! Well... I pressed snooze a few too many times and woke up at 8:15 instead! The appointment was at 8:30 so I flew out of bed, threw the hair back, put on some sweats and headed to my long time best friend- Kristen's aesthetics shop! I got my gel nails re done! they turned out excellent- always do!

I also got my toe nails painted- pedicure! Pedicures are amazing, especially Kristens! The give the best massages ever! You have no idea. (Ps. Sorry about the sideways photo, I didn't know how to flip it). Kristen gave me a french pedicure with a little bit of nail art, a little purple and yellow flower :) so cute!

Thank you to Kristen of Kristhetics for my many many sets of gel nails and everything else you've done for me! Also for just being there for me throughout the years!

After my manicure and pedicure, I went home to have a much needed nap! Once again, I set my alarm for a certain time and woke up... only fifteen minutes late this time :) **Don't worry pageant people, I'm normally on time, if not 15 minutes early!!**

After my much needed nap, I returned to the same building, only this time for a hair cut! Karma Hair Design and Kristhetics share a building- Kristethics is on the top floor. Anyways, I have gone to Janet, of Karma Hair Design for many many years because she is simply the best! Whatever I ask for done to my hair, Janet does! Today I got a trip and boy was it needed!

About 1 1/2 inches was taken off and my hair feels better already! If anyone happens to go through the small town of Russell and needs a hair cut, I highly recommend Janet Palamar. Wonderful lady! Easy to talk to and is one of the best hair artists I've been to!

After the hair appointment, I continued to get ready for T.O, packing was next on the agenda. Wow do we need a lot of stuff! In order to look good all of the time- takes a lot of clothes with alot of choices. Craaazy! I think the packing process should have been started a little earlier. Maybe moving home from the lake a two or three days ago would have been smart. OOPS! Clothes clothes and more clothes!

Since I've been so busy all day, I completely forgot to eat! So... after I did some packing, warmed up some much needed scrumptious chinese food from the Club Cafe in Russell so now here I am, updating this blog since I may not be able to update it until the first day at the pageant!! AAhh!!

A Quote of Encouragement

“
You must accept that you might fail; then, if you do your best and still don't win, at least you can be satisfied that you've tried. If you don't accept failure as a possibility, you don't set high goals and you don't branch out, you don't try - you don't take the risk.

Blog Assignment 3: Free the Children Photo

If I were a marketing director for Free the Children, I would choose this photo because it shows the hard work that the children are putting into their schooling because they know that with the life they have, they are very fortunate to be in a classroom learning and potentially have a way out of this way of life.

This photo is very inspiring because it shows students in a school room, a school room that the Free the Children organization has built. Many hours of hard work are put in to building these schools so these kids can be simply educated.

Here in Canada, we take education for granted. Kids drop out, slack off and (for lack of a better phrase) throw it away. In these third world countries, education is a privilege. In this photo, you can see that these children are listening intently to their lesson and doing their work because they know that a better future is in sight if only they work hard in school.

This picture is of much interest to me, personally, because for the last few years I have talked about doing a mission trip. I think it would be such a rewarding and eye opening experience to travel to africa and other third world counties and witness exactly what we take for granted.

I feel that the Free the Children concept of freeing children from exploitation and other abuses is absolutely the right thing to do. Saving these children is not only important them personally, but in the bigger picture, this is what is required to break the cycle and free the children in future generations.

Myself and many others have researched information on the Free the Children organization, and we believe that Free the Children truly does work. They truly do try their best to rid these kids of poverty, uneducated minds and exploitation.

Thank you to Craig Kielburger for founding the largest network of children helping children

No other city can be this close to nature for day trips to the Bay of Fundy, and allow you to still be back in time for a fine dining experience. You can even take in a live performance at the Capital Theatre. Don’t miss the Atlantic Seafood Festival and its culinary delights from August 20-22. You can never eat too much seafood!

Clear Lake Frenzy!!

Well I have recently moved to my summer cabin at Wasagaming Manitoba! It's so nice to see all my friends that I haven't seen in a year! I've been so busy with work... I work at a restaurant called T.R. McKoys. It's an italian restaurant that serves THE BEST food ever! I was a hostess for the last two years but now I am serving and holy man are the tips rolling in! Last night was the busiest night that I've served yet and it was hectic, but fun!!

I had an awesome surprise from my boyfriend at grad. Since we don't live in the same town, we never got to see each other that often, SO he surprised me saying he also got a job at clear lake and is now living here!! He's working for the Chamber of Commerce and lives in a camper about 5 minutes from me! (That's where I get my internet from :P)

An activity I enjoy during the summer (only summer because Russell doesn't offer it) is Yoga! I did my first yoga class of the summer yesterday morning with my co worker and good friend Paige! It was soo relaxing! It's been awhile since I've done any type of stretching really so it felt good to get back into it- especially if I'm going to be dancing at the talent night in TORONTO!! The last ten minutes of yoga were like heaven! We just laid there thinking... listening to nature (because we do it outside on the lawn bowling greens) and wow I almost fell asleep! It was lovely!

Clear lake/Wasagaming as so much to offer! From many many hotel accomodations to first class restaurants to gift shops, clothing stores... everything! Not to mention the world class golf course! The Clear Lake Golf Course is known to be a top course around this area and although I don't golf, I've been to the restaurant in the club house and just the view is breath taking. The course is right beside the lake and you can see everything right from the restaurant.

A new store has recently opened no the main strip called Garbage Day. It's a clothing store unlike any other clothing store here. It's style is classy and chic and I have spent waaaaay more money there than I should. Likely their number 1 customer thus far :)

Less than a week and I head back to Russell to get packed up and ready to head to Toronto! Things are finally starting to come together... The 19th I leave! Woot Woot! Flight at nine in the morning, gotta look hot hot hot at 7:30 in the morning haha!
