EXPERIENCE, EXPLORE

WITH ANDARIA -THE EXCITING CITY OF MONCTON AND AREA

Hi!  I’m Andaria Alexander and I would like to take you on many amazing adventures when you visit my hometown. Be prepared for unsurpassed hospitality and the friendliest people on the planet.  Living here my entire life definitely qualifies me as an expert.

 MONCTON NEWBRUNSWICK

HUB OF THE MARITIMES – CENTRALLY LOCATED

ONLY 15 MINUTES FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN

CANADA’S MOST POLITE AND HONEST CITY (Readers Digest 2008)

(Canadian Business Magazine 2007) – TOP CITY IN CANADA TO LIVE AND DO BUSINESS IN

POPULATION  127,000

SHALL WE BEGIN ANDARIA’S ADVENTURES?

To escape the heat in the city, take a short drive to Fundy National Park.  On the way back, stop off to walk among giant flowerpots and leave you footsteps on the ocean floor at  Hopewell Rocks.  Hours later you can be kayaking at the exact location atop the World’s highest tides.  Visit the playground of whales and see for yourself why the Bay of Fundy is one of the Marine Wonders of the World!  Lobsters are gigantic and dulse, (edible seaweed) is plentiful.

No other city can be this close to nature for day trips to the Bay of Fundy, and allow you to still be back in time for a fine dining experience.  You can even take in a live performance at the Capital Theatre.  Don’t miss the Atlantic Seafood Festival and its culinary delights from August 20-22.  You can never eat too much seafood!

SHOPPING

Due to its central location Moncton has the best shopping in Atlantic Canada.  Stores are abundant and all over the city.  After having a delicious breakfast at Cora’s you might want to stroll along Main Street to browse the specialty shops and then head over to Champlain Mall, the largest mall east of Quebec  or go to the Trinity Power Centre.  You can shop till you drop!

MAGNETIC HILL

Can you believe that your car will actually coast uphill?  This amazing natural phenomenon has been baffling   visitors for 76 years.   Drive to the bottom of the hill and be prepared to be amazed, you’ll roll uphill.  This is a must do.  Cost is $5.00 per vehicle.

MAGNETIC  HILL  ZOO

Do a little browsing at Wharf Village, have a home cooked turkey dinner (only $6.95), then walk over to the Magnetic Hill Zoo. There you will find more than 400 animals of over 90 different species. There are petting areas, daily zookeeper shows, and educational programs.  This award-winning, nationally accredited zoo is an animal lover’s paradise.  Open  May – October /8am-9pm

MAGIC MOUNTAIN WATER PARK

Want to cool off?  Atlantic Canada’s largest water park is just the remedy.  Right next to Magnetic Hill, you will find a giant wave pool and 8 waterslides from mild to wild.   If you want to unwind, take a tube down the lazy river or just soak in the hot tub. Enjoy!  Open 10am to 7pm every day.  Season and family passes available.

SHEDIAC AND AREA

Within 15 minutes east of Moncton you will find the seaside town of Shediac. Stop off at Rotary Park at the entrance of the town.  Browse around the shops, then feast your eyes on a 55 tonne lobster sculpture.  Too bad it wasn’t real. This bronze crustacean measures 11 metres in length and is 5 metres wide.  Climb aboard and get your picture taken here!

Speaking of lobster, cracking open a juicy lobster is just the beginning of your adventure in Shediac.   If you’re around for the Lobster Festival , try your luck at winning a lobster eating contest.

BEACHES

Dip your toes into the warmest salt water north of Virginia and explore for miles, the most coveted sandy beaches in eastern Canada.  Want more action – check out Parlee Beach.  Everything happens here from volleyball tournaments to special events like sand sculpture and Surf-vivor contests.  Warning – very crowded but lots of fun!  Restaurant and canteens.

ACCOMODATIONS  AND DINING

Holy smokes Andaria. You really knocked it out of the park. Great work Karmen making this look professional on your blog - it does. This evidences a strong NB to Sask connection and that's exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for.
